In this problem the juices from the stomach moves in the opposite direction, that is from the stomach to esophagus.
The basic treatment for acid reflux is taking antacids that nullify the acid effects. Esophagus are not used to acid juices, so the inflammation will occur in esophagus.
Curing heart burn do not cure the basic problem that causes acid reflux. Heart burn is just a symptom, so we should concentrate on finding a cure for the problem that causes acid reflux. If not treated for a long time, it can cause esophageal cancer.
A study conducted in Sweden by Dr. Lars Lundell in Karolinska University Hospital included 255 patients. In the attempt to understand whether medication is a better cure or surgery, 122 of these patients had undergone surgery to control acid reflux or GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease) and the remaining 133 had been on the drug omeprazole (Prilosec).
Even though researchers where in constant touch with these patients, they are not able to come to a conclusion. Among the patients who had gone for surgery 53% report that have lower intensity of acid reflux.
Among the patients who took medication for acid reflux they reported that the intensity has come down. But about 45% of the patients needed to change their amount of intake of drug throughout the study period of 12 years.
Even though surgery was considered to be the best option, it also comes with the problems that needs to be addressed after the surgery. The fact is both surgery and medication do not provide a permanent cure to the acid reflux condition.
The perfect cure for this condition lies in lifestyle modification, diet adjustments and herbal remedies that can cure the problem by addressing the root cause of the issue.
The basic modifications that you should do in lifestyle is as follows.
